Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Kanady founded Echo Energy in 2010 and serves as its CEO. Since forming the company, Mr. Kanady has invested over $400MM in oil and gas properties, including the acquisition and/or divestiture of over 150,000 mineral acres and the resulting ownership in over 2,000 unconventional and conventional wells across Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. Mr. Kanady has been in the energy business for more than 10 years and began his career at Chesapeake Energy. Mr. Kanady graduated from the University of Oklahoma with BBA in Energy Management and Finance.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. O’Gara has served as Chief Financial Officer since 2015. Prior to joining Echo Energy, Mr. O’Gara was with Greenwich, Connecticut based Wexford Capital. While at Wexford, Mr. O’Gara worked closely with Diamondback Energy and Viper Energy Partners along with other upstream and midstream portfolio companies. Viper Energy Partners was the first publicly traded pure play mineral company in the United States which resulted in an initial public offering value of $2bn. At Echo Energy, Mr. O'Gara's efforts are focused on capital raises, investor relations, and financial oversight. Additionally, he oversees asset valuations and transaction execution on all of Echo Energy's business lines. Mr. O'Gara holds a BS in Economics from the Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania.
Vice President of Treasury
Mr. Hood joined Echo Energy in early 2014 and oversees Accounting and Treasury. Prior to Echo Energy, Mr. Hood earned his MBA with a specialty in energy and finance from the Price College of Business at The University of Oklahoma. During his studies, he was a Price Scholar and an associate for the Deutsche Bank’s Global Commodities Group.
Vice President of Geoscience
Mr. Lardner joined Echo Energy in 2015 as the Vice President of Geoscience and has more than thirty years of oil and gas industry experience. From 2004-2015, Mr. Lardner was employed by Chesapeake Energy where he served as Geoscience Manager for Arkoma and southern Oklahoma (Woodford), Appalachia North (Marcellus) districts, and most recently for South Texas (Eagle Ford) Business Unit. From 1996-2004, Mr. Lardner worked as a geologist/senior geologist for Seagull Energy / Ocean Energy / Devon Energy and previously as a geologist for Fina Oil and Chemical from 1984-1996. James holds MS and BS degrees in Geology from The University of Iowa.
Vice President of Business Development
Mr. Denny joined Echo Energy as Director of Business Development in September 2015. Prior to that he spent a total of 17 years at Chesapeake Energy where he started as a District Landman and then Senior Negotiator. In 2002, he helped found Chesapeake's Business Development team where he built and managed a team of 35+ employees. Mr. Denny was involved in land grabs in each of Chesapeake's major shale plays including the Fayetteville, Haynesville, Barnett, Eagle Ford, Marcellus and Utica with over 2.5MM acres acquired.
